Syllabus

OEAS 695 Fall 2016 Title “Operational Ocean Observing”
CRN One credit
Prof. Larry Atkinson
Latkinso@odu.edu
This course takes advantage of the many ocean and atmosphere observing systems and organizations in place in the Hampton Roads region. The purpose of this class is to familiarize students with the systems and organizations for both their science and possible job opportunities. I also stressed how organizations use oceanographic data for decision making.  The class consists entirely of trips to locations throughout the region. Grades are based on participation in the field trips. Each trip takes at least 3 hours and many 5 to 6 hours making scheduling a challenge.
